Although not officially announced by the band, it appears as if we finally have a release date for the highly anticipated fifth studio album from the Canadian rockers, Sum 41.
The album, Screaming Bloody Murder, has had fans waiting since early 2009 when front man, Deryck Whibley, announced a new album was in the works, with several songs completed and should be expected to be released shortly. This meant a release after a highly demanded greatest hits album, All The Good Sh*t, was released worldwide after previously being released under another title (8 Years of Blood, Sake and Tears) in Japan in 2008. After several tours, including a summer tour with The Offspring, the band said they had to delay the album even further to finish up the last few track and should be released by the end of the year.
As 2010 hit, there was still no clear date for when Screaming was to be released. On March 17, 2010, the band posted on their Myspace that they had 20 tracks prepared and all that was remaining was for lead singer Deryck to complete his vocals from his home in Ontario and they were 99% done with the album.
The new late 2010 release date was set in stone until yet another delay came in the form of injury to Whibley. As Sum 41 had a few shows in Japan, Whibley was attacked outside a bar, which hospitalized him with a slipped disc in his back, causing the band to drop of the last few weeks of Warped Tour 2010.
Interesting news came early Thursday morning, when Amazon.com had posted a release date for the album, saying it is to go on sale March 29, 2011.
