Blink-182 releases album information, talks Honda Civic Tour

This past week, Blink-182 announced the deadline date for completing their upcoming album. According to an interview done with MTV.com, Mark Hoppus, the band’s frontman and bass player, confirmed that the album will be done no later than July 31 of this year.Yes fans, this year.

"We absolutely have to turn the record in by July 31 — that's the rule," Hoppus said when asked about the deadline. 

The band has been in the studio for the past few months in between Tom Delonge touring with his other band Angels and Airwaves, Travis Barker touring for his new solo album Give The Drummer Some, which released in mid-March, and Hoppus flying back and forth from New York to do his FuseTV television show “Hoppus on Music.”

Even through their busy family lives and “work” schedules, the trio has been able to post several updates from the studio, including Hoppus leaking pictures of possible lyrics for the upcoming album on his Facebook page.  When asked about how far the band is along with their recording, Barker estimated that the album is over 70% done. 

The main rush to finish the album by that date is now mainly due to their upcoming tour they have signed onto. Blink-182 has planned a 40-plus date trek across the U.S. on the Honda Civic Tour with co-headliners My Chemical Romance.  The tour came into fruition when Delonge went to see a My Chemical Romance show in his hometown of San Diego and met up with Frank Iero, guitarist of MCR, and asked them if they would tour with Blink in the upcoming year. 

 

This year will mark the 10^th anniversary of the Honda Civic Tour, which Blink-182 actually inaugurated back in 2001, touring with Sum 41 and Alkaline Trio.  Fans, mark your calendars for a tentative release date and check out a tour date near year.  

As the boys in Blink say, this is the year of the rabbit.

Breathe Carolina release tracklisting, cover art

The Denver electronica duo of Kyle Even and David Schmitt of Breathe Carolina have released their latest cover art and tracklisting for their upcoming CD, Hell Is What You Make of It.  The full length release will be the third EP from the band and second release on Fearless Records, following their previous EP, Hello Fascination, which peaked at number 43 on the US Chart and number 11 on the rock charts.

The two members met in Denver as their former bands played several shows together at a local Denver club, Grandpa’s Music Box.  After both bands broke up and left for college, Even and Schmitt formed Breathe Carolina in 2007. After creating their first EP, Gossip, Even quit his full time job as a photographer and the band set off on a long tour schedule, including a headline tour with Every Avenue and Brokencyde.

The band had great success in the next few years, including 30 million Myspace music plays in 2009, a few years of Vans Warped Tour, several headlining tours and signing with Fearless Records in 2009. The band was also featured on many compilations, had an appearance on the Jay Leno Show and featured were on MTV’s, The City.

Chiddy Bang Breaks World Record

Last Thursday, hip-hop artist, Chiddy of Chiddy Bang, attempted the world record for… wait for it…longest freestyle rap!

On the eve of the one year anniversary of signing to NUE Agency, the rapper is attempting to break the 2009 Guinness record of World’s Longest Freestyle rap, which was set by M-Eighty with the mark of 9 hours, 15 minutes and 15 seconds.

Thursday, Chiddy sat down to break this amazing feat while being streamed live on OMusicAwards.com and MTV.com. Sitting in front of a camera, Chiddy spent his day rhyming about whatever came to his mind, but he did not do it all alone. The hip-hop artist also had help from his fans.

During his freestyle, his fans were encouraged to tweet him topics via his Twitter page @RealChiddy with the hash tag #RapWorldRecord. A few of the ideas tweeted at him included topics ranging from Family Matters and Steve Urkel, astronauts in space, to the pyramids in Giza. Other music artists are even showing Chiddy some of their love by tweeting at him, with the most notable being Matt and Kim.

Chiddy is one part of the alternative hip hop band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 2008, he met his group mate Noah “Xaphoon Jones” Beresin during their freshman year at Drexel University. The band released their first EP’s The Opposite of Adults EP and Chiddy Bang: The Preview in 2010, reaching as high as #11 on the U.S. Rap charts and #76 of the U.S. overall charts. In 2011, the duo plans to release another full length album, but still kept mum on the release date. Currently the band is lined up to headline 2011’s Bamboozle Roadshow.

Congrats to Chiddy for even considering to break this record, let alone surpassing it. The bar has been set high rap world!

The Wonder Years release new single; release date

This past week, the six-piece Philadelphia pop-punk band The Wonder Years released a new single that will be included on their upcoming album.

The album is set for a June 14 release date and will be released under the title, Suburbia I've Given You All And Now I'm Nothing, which is taken from the first line of Allan Ginsberg's poem, “America.”

The song, “Local Man Ruins Everything,” released exclusively through AbsolutePunk.org, is the first song from the band’s highly anticipated new album.  Following up The Upsides, which was highly praised and set the band shooting to the top of the pop-punk charts, their new album looks to reach even greater heights.

Lead singer Soupy Campbell spoke about the meaning of the album title: "Ginsberg’s ‘America’ has always had a special place in my heart... it was one of my favorite poems to read.  I felt that same dichotomy in my relationship with the Philadelphia suburbs and so, Suburbia I’ve Given You All and Now I’m Nothing just seemed to fit.”

Currently, the band looks forward to an extensive touring schedule as they currently are on a U.S. tour until the end of April.  Afterwards, they will head over to Australia with Parkway Drive, Bleeding Through and You Me At Six for a two-week stint. With less than a month off, they will then head out once more on the 50 date Vans Warped Tour spanning from June to August.
